Biography

Mark & Viola teamed up in 1995 just after Mark became International Latin Rising Star Champion and made the final of Open Latin at the United States Dancesport Championships. Extremely talented and creative, Mark placed fifth in the country after only 5 years of competitive dancing. His early training began at The Dancer's Studio in his home state of Minnesota. There he learned how to break movements down and teach them in a very clear, simple, effective way.

In addition to his dancesport experience, Mark also has a diverse set of skills and perspective garnered from years of performing theater. This performance experience, combined with a robust technical knowledge of lighting, sound and stage design, make him ideally suited to direct his company Frogmouth Productions, Inc., providing production services for dancesport events across the country.

Mark and Viola have over 19 years of experience as a dancesport competitors, choreographers, coaches, judges, performers and producers. For the last 14 years they have been teaching, dancing, performing, and putting on exciting events in the South Bay area of Los Angeles.

Viola began her early training in ballet and jazz when she was seven years old. She studied and performed locally with a company in Santa Monica, California. Her parents bought her ballroom dancing lessons and she was hooked! She started a training program and began teaching and competing professionally in all styles. She later specialized in International Latin, becoming a top Latin dancer in the country. She teamed up with Mark and together they have made the final rounds in all of the major open Latin championships around the country.

Mark & Viola married in 1999 and are the proud parents of four children, Hanna, Justin, Alessia and Kamille.(pictured above) They Currently teach at the South Bay Dance Center in Lomita, California.
