Dancers` Shiny Hair

I was wondering - how do all the ballroom dancers that we see on TV get their hair sooo shiny? Especially those competing in Latin dances - their hair is always so smooth and shiny. Do they use any special products? Thanks for any input in advance :0)

Usually just hair spray... but lots and lots and lots and lots of it.

The mistake most students make is that they don't put enough hair spray in. This, in spite of the fact that they may have used twice as much as they're used to. The best thing you can do is pay a professional to do your hair the first few times. After that, if you're resourceful enough to try it on your own, you'll have had the exposure to the proper technique for applying.

Now by "professional", I'm referring to a professional ballroom hair stylist. There's usually one or two at every competition. If you go to your regular hair stylist, there's no guarantee that he or she will know what's required for a dance competition.

That invigorating feeling.... Are you sure that just isn't the fumes?

Just remember to have lots of shampoo on hand afterwards.

I used to have my hair ratted first before being hairprayed to death, and had the hardest time getting the stiffness out of my hair (and lost lots of hair as I was scrubbing & shampooing it several times in one shower). The my hairdresser gave me the tip to use conditioner FIRST, then shampoo. It takes the stickiness and stiffness out and does seem to help the shampoo wash all the hairpsray out. I condition again afterwards too, since I have very dry hair.

There's a product called "Firmata" by Aveda that gives you that Turtle Wax effect...when used in conjunction with a blow-drier, it will dry to a hard-shell finish

Yep. Slick hair back, spray to cover to the point of soaking, blow dry. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Use next can of hair spray.

You get the idea. After a while you'll get to like the feeling of the wet hair spray drying and hardening under the warm air. It's kind of invigorating.

Hair sprays are great products for shiny hair. But you can also use the all natural and safe black hair extensions to make your hair lengthy and add volume to it.
