Re: Quality ballroom dances in Fort Worth Texas... Posted by ballroomchick 11/13/2013 10:20:00 AM
Welcome to the club of those who have experienced the financial burn of Arthur Murry's. Believe me you are NOT alone!
Do you want to learn to social ballroom dance or do you wish to do competitive ballroom dancing?
For good social dance instruction and dance parties I would suggest you join/log on to the Meetup Groups. It's FREE. Here is the link to the DFW Ballroom and Latin Meetup Group. http://www.meetup.com/FWSalsa Most of the events posted here are in Ft. Worth, Arlington and Bedford area. A few of us post events for the Dallas areas from time to time.
As for competitive dance instructors. Most of the Ft. Worth folks I know come to Dallas for instruction.
Dallas now hosts 3 ballroom competitions. (this does NOT include Arthur Murry events that are NOT open to non-AM dancers.)
World Promotion's - Andrew Smart's Texas Star is held in February. The last 2 years it's been at the Galleria Westin Hotel. This is a 1 day event. http://www.worldpromotionsinc.com/1/events.html
Rising Star Friendly - this is a 2 day event. This was their 1st year and was held the first week of June. This ran up against the Sapphire Dancesport Ball in Austin so attendance was really low. They will be moving the date in 2014.
Southwestern Invitational Dancesport Championships is always held the last Fri, Sat and Sun of September. http://www.southwesterninvitational.com/
