Beware of scam!

I posted a dress for sale in the classified section and couldn't believe it when I got an offer to buy it only a few hours later. This person didn't hem and haw at all, he was buying the dress for a friend for her birthday. I thought this was an odd and expensive gift, but wasn't suspicious. Here's his last message to me:

"From: "leon smith" Add to Address Book
To: "Jennifer Walker"
Date: Wed, 20 Oct 2004 05:32:47 +0800
Subject: I need your quick respond

Hello Jennifer ,
How are you doing? i'm very please to buy the dress from you however i will need your favour in some part.
I'm moving out of state by this week end. I have a certified cashier's check in USA fund of $3500 remitt to your name which i will send it out shortly.
why i remitted the amount to you is that i'll need some money(cash) in Holland to get some things together and i dont want to take the cash along with me because is very risky(i dont like taking cash around).
As soon as you receive this check and cash it , you will send the rest of the money to me via western union money transfer after you must have deduct the money for the dress plus shipping money to my friend in UK.
This is all i want you to know because i need to leave the state by this weekend.
Reply as soon as you could.
Stay Blessed.
Leon. "

This is a variation on a well-known scam...read here to get the details: http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/scams/carsale.asp

This idiot was after me today, too. I figured out he was scamming me pretty quickly, and so tried to string him along to get more information out of him. I then called my local FBI field office and the Duty Agent directed me to the FBI's Internet Fraud Unit's web site, where I filed a report.

This one's been around for a while... you'd figure that scammers would actually take some time to be original. :-P.

Yeah, for sure. But I've actually managed to get "Leon Smith" to give me a shipping address. I'm not sure if it's a real place, though, but I'm having some friends in the UK check on it. I wonder if I can actually get him to the point where he sends me the forged check?

I think the real trick would be to get "Leon" to mail his "cashier's check" right to the local FBI office
