I am very interrested in Latin dances and have many many times in my life wanted to start competing. Today I'm soon to be 22years old and I only know the basic salsa steps. My advantage is that I have the rythm in my soul. And learning a new dance is no problems.

What I wonder is - would I be too old to start learning and competing in Latin? Anybody in here who has started dancing in my age? So.. give me some inspiration.

I am not sure what you mean by Latin dances. Salsa is not one of Latin dances from a competitive dance perspective.

Any way I would not give up my dream because of my age. I wanted to let you know that I started to dance when I was older than you are and I look a lot better than most of 22 year olds on the dance floor and we often beat them at competitions, even though we have a long long way to go.

Anyone can dance and compete at any level at any age. It's not too late for you to go and work and your skills and artistry and see how far you can go.

That said, understand that people who get as far as the World Champion level or even a National Champion level in Latin usually started much earlier. But that doesn't mean that you can't start now and see how things go. There's lots of things that can be achieved between just starting out and becoming World Champion, so why not go out there and experience it!

And if you think you are too old to go to National or World Champion level, then you will certainly never get there.

Thanx for all of your responses! I know that Salsa is not one of the Latin dances.. so what I wanted to say with my message is that: I have some dance skills, allthough not in The Latin dances.. but I see Salsa as the next best thing.

I don't think that I'm old, but in my town and my country there are not many newbies who has past the age of 18. All the newbie classes here are full with children between 8-15, so among those I feel a bit old.

I have let my dream slip away many times before - but now I will attend a class, no matter what and see what kind of a potential I have in competing. And I know that when I set a goal for my-self I never let it go untill I have completed it.
