software for editing music

Hi, I was hoping someone could help me out and recommend a good software package that could edit music (e.g. mp3). There are some songs I would love to put routines together, but they are too long, too fast etc. and I would like to be able to edit the file with some user-friendly software.

There's some freeware available - "cool edit 2000" which will do a pretty good job for you. I've used it and still use it. Do a google search for "cool edit" and it's first on the list. Good luck

My pick is Sony Soundforge. There's a "lite" version -- I think it may be called SoundForge Studio -- that you can pick up at any of the usual places such as Best Buy or Comp USA for around $40-50 USD. The full version is much more expensive, probably in the $300-400 range, and it won't have any additional features that you'll ever use. So stick with the lite version... it's got everything you need to edit, mix, fade, change pitch or tempo, etc.
