Here's a question. Why do you think they have a live band and no vocalist
at the British ? Give it a bit of thought, there is a reason.

I'm thinking "no vocalist" due to the arrangements the live band uses. But I have no idea why they still use a live band other than "tradition" or maybe because of some obscure union regulation in effect?

Okay Don, do tell!!

Laura. You are probably used to dancing for about a minute thirty. Then if one of the judges needed more time the disc goes on again. Over there you could be doing a Quickstep for three minutes none stop. The live band just keeps playing. This obviously wouldn't be OK
for a vocalist to just keep on singing.
Plus it is a tradition. For those who have never been to Blackpool, a little bit of additional information. There is no V.Waltz. There are no juveniles or juniors. The judges who judge the afternoon program, that's the elimenation rounds, will not judge the evening finals. Nobody who judged last years finals will judge this years.
