makeup for comps

Hi, everyone!
I'm competing pro/am at Heart of America in August.
Should my makeup look different when I dance smooth than it does when I dance rhythm and Latin? Or can I wear the same look?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi deewoman! From my experience, it doesn't make too much of a difference. As long as your make-up looks good and you can see it from off the floor then you should be fine. Some people choose to have more dramatic and exotic make-up for latin, but really I know plenty of awesome dancers who wear the same make-up throughout the whole day, no matter what style they're dancing, and their fine with it. Personally, I wouldn't want to have to change my make-up in the middle of the day for a different style. However, if you dance latin on one day and smooth on the next, then you could do you makeup in the morning based on what style you're danceing that day. My advice, go with whatever you want. If you want heavy exotic makeupp for latin, then do it. But if youd like just wearing a great makeup style throught the whole competition then that's good too. It all depends on how much effort you want to put into it. Good luck and have fun dancing. tangoteen
