Different system

I will make the sentences brief otherwise it can go on and on. In my country we seem to have a different system. Tonight there will be at the least a hundred people. Usually there are maybe six to eight more ladies than men. The dance is called a Social Dance. Some come as a pair but will not dance together all evening. There will be two teaching sessions of about twenty minutes a piece. Music will be played suitable to what was being taught with a few other dances thrown in Rumba Cha for instance. The ladies sit down and the guys are expected to pick the ladies up in strict rotation. Beginners are well catered for. Some of the better dancers don't pay to go in. It's their job to help. All the dance classes in this part of the world use this system. To my knowledge it has been like this for the past fifty years or so.

cdroge. Anybody who want's to come through the door can. At this moment in time we seem to be attracting the over 35's age group. That is this studio. Others have a mixture of age groups. All will employ the system where everybody gets a fair go. Nobody need worry about being a wall flower, male or female. There are of course dances , no instruction, where it would be a bit chancey to arrive without a parner. Most of these are at weekends. There are other groups who cater for the type of dance that is called a Sequence Dance. Everbody does the same steps to the same timing, and is based on the modern style, although there are also a few latin sequence dances thrown in. Ive heard one person boast that they can do a hundred difference dances off the top of their head. Some of them are well put together, some aren't. Because they have to fit into a sixteen bar sequence it is a bit hard to keep it as we would a normal Foxtrot or Waltz. If I go to a dance like this I can look at the program and see that most of the dances I have never heard of let alone do. But they have fun. We possibly are better off than most regarding venues. Our Education Department make the puplic school facilities open for hire to public. Every school has a large assembly hall which ideal for dancing.I think that about covers it.
