Can anyone help with the origin of the name, Feather Step, in the Slow Foxtrot?

Perhaps feathering of the hip into outside partner position - the strong side lead on step 2, that when held into step 3 is called CBMP.

Could be because if you hold a feather you will see the curve. Just a suggestion.

To me it's the lightnes of the right leg as it swings and floats outside the Lady. Interesting, I think many dancers must have different interpritations. Cheers

Curious. Before there was a Feather Step in the Foxtrot They used to cross up behind like a lock and go straight into a Reverse which was like a Reverse V,Waltz. there was at that time people like Josepine Bradly. Henry Jaques .Victor Silvester who changed the whole picture in about 1922. But why it was called a Feather Step, who knows. My guess is that it was a lot lighter than the cross up behind, so a Feather Step it was called..
