Leading spins and turns

Hi! I'm a follower, so I'm asking from that point of view. I've noticed that often the lead on a turn or spin pulls me off balance just a bit--not horrible, just enough that I notice it's a bit harder to keep my balance than when I practice the step without a partner. But occasionally a leader will lead a spin in a way that actually helps me keep my balance. I was just wondering what those guys are doing differently. Any ideas?

Also, does height make a difference? I'm 5'10" in my heels, so I rarely dance with anyone who is the ideal 4-5 inches taller than I am, but the last guy who led a "helful" spin was about that tall.

Thanks for your help.

That's supposed to be "helpful" not "helful"! Oops!
