I think one good thing is that this got O'Hurley more recognition than just being the guy who played J. Peterman on Seinfeld.

People now know his name. A good career move on his part.

Next competition they should get the real J. Peterman as a dancer (O'Hurley's character was based on a real pewrson).

Whether the outcome was "right" or not is less important than the impact the show had. In Canada, it was the #4 show on television behind "Idol" and 2 CSIs. That is great for dance in general. The dances that my wife and I frequent are generally attended by the same, not too young crowd. Perhaps the show will turn a few more people on to ballroom.

I will watch it if it airs again. I loved the show...and thought the winner was well deserved.

I agree with you completely! I couldn't have said any of that better myself! I was more upset with the fact that they received all 10's at the end than if they were to win by public vote. Winning by public vote is something that I could understand, but giving someone like Kelly that could not dance all 10's when all she did was stumble and fall was completely wrong. I know that my family was upset, and they won't watch ABC again. ABC doesn't have any good shows really except Extreme Makeover. Otherwise, what is the point of watching their shows when all ABC does is lie to people? Oh, and we do not know if Kelly won by public vote since they will not public the vote total. That seems a bit weird now, doesn't it? Anyhow, the ABC board started a petition (that was not written by me). If I wrote it, believe me when I say that I would have put in more details than that lol! It's really interesting to read though. You can sign it if you want to, or not. Either way, it's up to you. The link is, http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?ballroom&1. Have fun!

This was mentioned on another ballroom board I read, but if you read the rules on the ABC site, you'll see that the fans' vote was all that really mattered in the final round. It first talks about the general scoring, 50% judges, 50% fans, and how 1st to Xth place gets X to 1 points. After that it says that if there's a tie, the fans' vote is the tie breaker. If by some miracle, the fans' vote is tied, then Len as the head judge would make the decision.

The final round only had two couples, so there were only two basic outcomes -- the judges and fans agreed on who the winner was or they didn't. If they agreed, it was over. If they didn't, it would be a tie and the fans would get the tiebreaker vote. So in effect, the judges' final round votes meant nothing. Assuming everything was fair, Kelly had to have won the public vote because if she didn't, John would have won the championship. But you're right, it would have been nice if they had revealed the results of the public vote all along.

The chick kelly won because the public liked her revealing outfits and nice body, but really alec was doing everything, i was absolutely disgusted.
anyway, it got me into ballroom, when i saw the first one and the waltz, it was so beautiful that it attracted me instantly to ballroom, and now ive already taken a couple of classe snad im loving it

ABC missed the point! Are they showing "dancers in training "or "fan's friends"? The popular vote is a mistake! Only an educated judge should judge. AND, that judge should be true to the dance! We will watch this time and only if it looks honest will we watch anything on ABC again! We hope ABC has learned but we fear not!

Our dancing with the stars are down to five contestents left in. At this point in time nobody has scored a ten from any of the four judges. The marks have been very fair as well as the criticism and suggestions on how to improve for the next round. The set is stunning and the orchestra brilliant, any type of music whether it be Rumba to Quickstep with vocalists could not be better. At this moment it is the highest rated show on our TV. I haven't at this time found anybody who has any complaints. The show goes for two hours weekly.
