Being only 6ft 5in I have always had a problem with sway. My early teacher would say don't try to sway. Another teacher said let my wife create the sway, but she could only sway with the coach and then I would feel the sway from her,but it did not last long. I was told the sway should start early, you have to be lowered to sway and so on. Using the head weight also helps. What says all?

Dave its Don again. Sway. There is a Polatis excercise which is. Kneel on one knee. Back straight, arms above the head. Now think up and over. If you crunch your side you will have no balance. Imagine a piece of cane where each segment bends equally. If you measure the piece of cane before and after bending, it is the same size on the inside and the outside as it is when it's straight. Obviously it has to be. It is surprising how many shorten the inside. Incidently this is a good excercise for all , not just dancers. Don't forget to change knees.

"If you measure the piece of cane before and after bending, it is the same size on the inside and the outside as it is when it's straight."

Someone didn't get very good grades in geometry.... what you suggest is simply impossible, unless the short side buckles and you measure the distance included in those ridges.

Suomynona. Never did like geomerty. I couldn't find my piece of cane. So I used a wooden skewer. I haven't been able to shorten it or make it grow by bending .I also tried a flexible steele ruler. Same result. Which means in an Oversway the inside and outside measurments stay the same. Unless the inside line is broken. If this isn't so I will do this trying to make myself a bit taller, even if it is only on one side.
