delay walk in Rumba?

What is delay walk ? At which beat does it happen? Any advice? Thanks.

Yvonne. I would like to hear this one. I have three books and it does not get a mention in either. I would imagine that if you did a Hip Twist. Held it for the 4 1 and the 2 .then go to the Fan Position on the remaining three beats, counting 3 & 4 1 . That's a delay but probably not correct. Try it though its different to say the least.

In a regular rumba walk the weight arrives at the same time as the foot straightens. In a delayed walk the foot staightens first, and then the weight comes later (this also delays the hip action). Often a delayed walk is on 4and1, this means that the foot arrives on 4, and the weight arrives on 1.
