What kind of dance for this song?

I'm getting married in Jan and can't find dance lessons anywhere. Our first dance is At Last by Etta James but I don't know what kind of dance to do with it. I know nothing about dancing. Can anyone help?

That's an extremely slow beat. Each beat consists of a triplet, so it sounds like:

1 and a, 2 and a, 3 and a, 4 and a.

But you would not dance to the "and a" rhythm, only to the main beats. And it's SLOW! There's been discussion of dances like this, perhaps this very song, before, on this forum, and I think that only some kind of very slow foxtrot (swaying in place a lot) would fit the beat. Maybe a bolero, despite the lack of a Latin flavor. It's just very very slow....

Angela,

Congratulations, first of all!
Try a four-count Foxtrot. Instead of moving your feet to Slow, Slow, Quick, Quick, you would move your feet on every beat (this equals 4 slows). Hope this helps.

Congrat's!

Etta James' "At Last" is too slow for Foxtrot. Commonly people simply slow dance to it. This song interestingly has an underlying waltz beat. Try the Viennese Waltz. It's fun!

CSDA. Not a V. Waltz. Over the years I have seen two fractured hips, a broken leg. I vè heard of many back problem sustained in a fall. The latest was our senior champion tearing a muscle on the floor in a competition.
