This may have been touched on in another hread, but if so, I didn't find it by skimming Topic headings.

I teach a Continuing Education course in ballroom/social danicing. Over the past year, enrollment has grown -- almost doubling, so that the Univiersity is looking at creating a second section for at least some of the classes.

Last night, I asked the students -- admittedly, only the 50% "hangers-on" after the official end of the night's class -- whether they had been influenced by any of the recent TV shows and Hollywood attention to ballroom. I was surprised that they *ALL* said they had been. Most indicated they had seen "something" on TV, but the item most often mentioned "Shall We Dance?" (Hollywood version -- none of the students knew it was a remake of the Japanese film).

While I certainly expected the increased media attention to have an impact, I hadn't expected it to be universal, even in such an unscientific "poll." Has anybody else asked similar questions, and if so, with what result?

Anyway, it is good to see the growth in dance....
