MIT and Harvard have ballroom clubs that put on competitions, workshops, and other events. I believe membership is open to all, but in any case you can enter their competitions whether you are a member or not.

Without knowing where you are in New England, I can't look up your area specifically. MA is what I know about since that's where I am.

Also, whenever you have a chance to talk to other dancers, be it before or after lessons, or during a dance, ask them. There's no better way to find teachers, studios, dance clubs, etc. than by the people who are in the scene.

Good luck!
