This is a question for all of the instructors on this board who decided that they had enough of all the politics and such of working in a studio and decided to strike out on their own.
When you first started going out on your own, what were your prime sources of advertising? Where did you look for space to teach in?
I've decided that when I move, I don't want to teach in a studio unless I absolutely can't avoid it. After the last one I taught in *shudders at memory* I think that I'd be much better off on my own but this puts me at a distinct disadvantage being that I am starting completely fresh in a new city. The main thing that I'm currently having problems with is finding a proper space to teach lessons in. Every facility I've found so far with rooms for rent are either charging an arm and a leg or the rooms aren't subtible for lessons (they have carpets, etc, etc). So, does anyone have any suggestions they can make to me?
Thanks!
