Hi, I am new to this website and am very much in love with the art of ballroom dancing. I've never danced before but would very much like to start. I however, live in South Texas where there is hardly any ballroom dancing. What would you recommend I do to be able to start my classes?

Also, how would I look up replys to the messages I post?

Thankfully yours,
Bertha

When you say "hardly any", is there any at all? What about within a 90 minute drive? It's really difficult to get started dancing without in-person instruction and someone to dance with. You could get videos to help you start to learn, but that's really no substitute at all for interacting with a teacher in a group class or one-on-one setting.

Have you checked out your local community center, YMCA, and colleges and universities? Some of them offer beginnig ballroom classes.

Good luck!

Thank you Laura. If there isn't any, Which learning video is the best one to start off with? I realize that this is no replacement for the actual interacting with an actual instructor, but I guess something is better than nothing.

I appreciate your help!

Are you close to Bacliff? Know a group of people who found a ballroom teacher that they as a group take lessons with each week in Bacliff. Maybe you can join them. I understood from him as well that coaches in South Texas are non exsistant.

Unfortunately no, I'm nowhere near Bacliff. But something is better than nothing. I've purchased a couple of DVD's in ballroom dancing and will start with those until ballroom comes to the valley (when pigs have wings I guess);o)

Thank you for all your help.
