Couple Lessons

For our upcoming anniversary, I want to buy my wife and I private ballroom lessons. She has some experience, but unfortunately, I have none.

The local place in town is owned by a male instructor. Would it offend him to ask for a female instructor? As a the weaker partner, I think I would feel more comfortable with a female instructor.

Am I off base?

Thanks

It shouldn't offend him if you havent asked him yet. If you ask the female teacher first then there shouldnt be a problem. It might be more comfortable for both of you. In the sence that your wife can see how a female moves instead of getting the wrong impression of hip movement from a male instructor!! But that is my opinion. And she can easily lead both of you with out you feeling uncomfortable being led by a guy~!!!!!!

It's okay to ask for a female but the best way for you to learn is a man. You will learn all the moves of the man and that is what your wife wants. For you to lead like a man. Your wife knows what to do so use her when the teacher gives the instruction. I think you have given your wife the greatest gift and she will most likely give you alot of her love for that sacrafice you have made.

No, it shouldn't offend him at all. And if that's what you're most comfortable with, you should ask for a female.

But as you get more comfortable with dancing, I agree that there are things you will learn about leading from a male instuctor that you might not from a female, unless she is a very experienced teacher. But you can switch or take a few lessons from a guy at some point in the future.

Welcome to dancing! Warning: it's addictive!
