Partner Issues

I have a curious question for anyone.

I am finding that I really enjoying dancing, however, the only time I can dance seems to be at my lessons with my teacher, which really starts to add up. My concern is that he will be the only person I can dance with because finding other male dancers seems to be a challenge in my area because most are couples.

Is this a common problem?

I have the same problem. I am looking for a male that is learning and wants to dance.

I am finding very few male dancers.

Does your studio have socials or practice parties? Most in the US do and that's a great place to dance with lots of people and learn to adjust to different leads. And it might lead to finding a more permanent dance partner.

If your studio doesn't have them, check if other studios in the area do. Often the dances are open to the public.

I have went to a couple different type of socials. One social place I tried definately seemed to be all couples. The other social place seemed to have geared toward the older crowd (60+ year olds)

Thanks for the advice though. :)

in my case, i am sorta the girl who is "just one of the guys" so i have many guy friends. i asked some of them if they had any interest, and to my surprise, he had even taken previous classes! the only problem with him is that he lost interest. so i just asked another and he said he would try it and he didnt like it too much, but i guess what i am trying to say is that if you have guy friends, try asking them. but be careful as they might find some newfound feelings for you! LOL! but then again you could find some newfound feelings for them too!

That is good advice, I thank you. I just run the luck that my friends are either married or females.

Lol!

We dance in Southeastern Wisconsin and go to a variety of places to Ballroom dance. Some of them are excellent for dancers, who do not have a partner. I would find out were there are ballroom dances in the area and check out the situation at them. Some of the people without partners arrange to get a group of fellow students to go some place, to insure there are other dancers for them to dance with.

Some couples also prefer to do a lot of dancing with others, although it ussually is mostly others they know.

Some dances have fairly long mixers, which are excellent for dancers who do not have a partner.
