New dancers

Hi
I've only been learning for a few months, but my partner and I are coming along (technically) quite well. I was wondering what the trick is to making the "story" behind the dance convincing?
How do non-romantic partners give the impression that they're so deeply IN love they might trip? Learning the steps is easy, putting in some flair is proving the true challenge.

I guess I object to the question. I dont want to seem to be in love romantically with my daughter when we dance. I would like to look like we are really enjoying the dance and all of its movement aspects, relishing the lead-follow cooperation between us, really acing the technique, and loving that we are doing it right and look good.

You make a good point...however I am not related in any way to my partner so I guess I would like to seem as if we were more....connected.

Romantic image or not, theres still a kind of flair (I believe) needed to make the dance look especially good. Watching competitive dancers...still takes my breath away every time.
