I am a senior in High school. There is this new club that opened in my school, its a ballroom dancing team who will be competeing against others in the county.
I have been dancing since i was 6 but i cant help but feel nervous. This is a completely different form of dancing and with a partner at that.
I have experience in ballet, jazz,lyrical,hip-hop,belly dancing and tap. I am hispanic so i am very familar with salsa.
So can anyone tell me the most challeneging aspect of ballroom dancing? Do you think i could stand the chance as a ballroom dancer?

Hello Dancer68. Of course you stand the chance! You have already experienced different kinds of dances, and you have certainly a knowlege of your body and movements that will give you some advantage. In my opinion, the most challenging aspect of ballroom dancing is probably the same you found in other dances. To improve everytime, making it better and more beautifull everytime you dance. Good luck!

2 things I found hardest were mastering the various movements, I had never done before. Like triple steps, rise and fall in smooth. Other is lead/follow. You obviously have succesfully dealt with the first challenge in your dancing and succeeded. You should have the same experience in ballroom.

One key is liking dancing, which your background indicates you do. That really helps in insuring you put in the practise, we all need to progress. If you did well at the other dances, you should do well at ballroom. If you do salsa, you are already started.
