Music - Keeping Children Interested

My youngest child has recently started Latin & Ballroom classes and wants to quit already because he hates the music.

I have read a few alternatives offered on this site, but could someone please suggest some contemporary music for all of the 10 dances.

A tall order I know, but please help. He's a very talented young man. It would be a shame for him to quit already.
It doesn't have to be current, just something which sounds more up to date. Country, Pop, R&B...Whatever! Please Help!!

Thank you SO Much.

Kindest regards,

Christina

Have him start out with cha cha, rumba and swing. the dances go very well with most top 40 music.

I'd agree with consider_compete,it's probably easiest to filter through the music he's already listening to. I've also in the past suggested going to http://BallroomDanceMusic.info/, where you can search by artists he might like as well.

Since you asked, I've pasted below some things from CD's I've compiled. I do American style, and not all 10 dances, so....

American Style, pulled from some of the CD's I've compiled:

Viennese Waltz: Seal, *Kiss of a Rose*; Enya, *Caribbean Blue*; Jim Croce, *Time in a Bottle*

Waltz: Faith Hill, *Cry*; Dana Glover, *Thinking Over*; Journey, *Open Arms*; Yanni, *End of August,* Clint Black, *When I Said I Do*; Enrique Iglesias, *You're My #1* (fast); Enya, *China Roses*; Carol King, *Natural Woman*.

Tango: Debelah Morgan, *Dance With Me*; Fleetwood Mac, *Tango in the Night* (beat can get soft);

Foxtrot: Bobby Darin; *Mack the Knife*; Garth Brooks, *Walking After Midnight*; Lee Ann Womack, *I Hope You Dance*, Michael Johnson, *It's Magic Time*.

Bolero: Vanessa Williams, *Colors of the Wind*, Gloria Estefan, *Me Voy*, *Hablas de Mi*; Christian Castro, *Volver a Amar*; Enrique Iglesias, *Por Amarte*, *Si Tu Te Vas*, *No Llores por Mi*

Cha Cha: Enrique Iglesias, *Bailiamos* (also a samba); Gloria Estefan, *Rhythm is Gonna Get You*; Smokey Robinson, *The Tears of a Clown*; Leann Rimes *Can't Fight the Moonlight*

Rumba: Toto, *Africa* (really a Samba, but it works....), Sting, *Fields of Gold*, Cindi Lauper, *Time after Time*, Chris Isaak, *Wicked Game*, Ben E. King, *Stand by Me

Christina,

I would suggest rather investigating his favourite cd's for ballroom danceable music. I tend to like the dances if i like the music....
