How do you become a Professional Ballroom Dancer?
Do Ballroom Dancers go to college for this?

Do you mean a person who makes their living from ballroom dancing or a person that competes as a professional.

In either case the most common route is taking lessons at a studio or taking a job at some studios that will teach you. A lot of people that want to compete, work for studios that provide traing and coaching for competition for their employees.

Lots of people start with the big chains, to get training and develope theiur teaching skills. Than move on to being an independant teacher.

However,

Once I was looking at a professional dancer's resume (one that teaches at the studio I attend) and it was listed that they went to some sort of dance college or something like that. Does anyone know about these?

I am currently studying ballroom dance at Brigham Young University in Utah. I'm not sure of other places where you can get a degree in dance, but I know BYU does :)

Find and Arthur Murray Studio and become and instructor. They will train you to dance and sell.
You may even find a professional partner at the studio for you or compete in pro-am with your students.

It is a great job!!!

Are you serious? That is so cool! It definitely beats biochemistry (that's what I'm doing right now, not really thrilling).
How long is your program? How many credits?

However, if you want to teach DANCE, you'll need real training, not 'chain studio' 6 week wonder material.

BYU is among a few Universities that offer degrees in dance education.

Take the high road -

Can you tell me the difference between the two?
Can they both be combined?
I want to do it as a living and also compete.
