Hi to all
I have been a ballroom dancer in the UK for over 20 years now, and have only recently come across this web site. I think its amazing, the choice of reading material and especially the dance music section i find extremley useful.
I will deffinatley be keeping a close eye on this site.
Keep dancing
Gary

Gaz124. Great site. It has shown me that the part of my dancing education has been missed, and that is the music we are dancing to. I knew there were four beats to a bar and in the Waltz three beats. I new there was an introductory piece in the music and i knew that we allow it to go by before we dance. Now i find there is a difference within the music on every eight bars and we should dance accordingly. As the music comes to a new phrase and strikes up on 1 2 we should not be dancing on 3 4. This is of course Foxtrot. Nobody told me in the beginning that over four beats that the first beat is strong the second soft the third strong but not as strong as one and the fourth beat is soft. which allows me to know where beat one is. To me it shows that if they were all the same i wouldn' t know if i was on four or one. Now my choreography needs to be revised. some of it i put together myself. Keep dancing.
