Help?

Ok, so I was just wondering with the Waltz (lady's role), at the pose/oversway (6 beats) onto a check (3 beats), can someone help me with the best way to get a good pose here. I am being told I don't stretch out to the left far enough. It feels like my neck is about to break when I try to stetch it out. Is that normal???

Thanks for any help :)

Dont know if this will help you or not but when your partner is holding you his hand is usually on your left shoulder blade, or should be. So, when you go into the over sway ask him to drop his right hand just a little to give you a bit more support during that movement, i finf that helps my partner get the right body position for this.

Dance crazy.First have you got the right positioning of the body with your partner. If we take just the man's right wrist. There are some teachers who teach that the hand itself is just a decoraion and it shouldn't matter if the man didn' t have one. To the back of the ladies armpit ia a slight depresion. Above the hand of the man on the wrist there is also a slight depression. They should fit. This is in keeping with today where the right area of the chest of each partner touches that of the other. And the eyes of the man is horizontal, whilst the ladies is not. Have a look at Learn the Dances here on this site and watch the positioning of the bodies.
Nothing that you do in dancing should be uncomfortable. If it is it is wrong, and there has to be a reason why it is wrong.

Hi Dance crazy
Do you mean an oversway, or a throwaway oversway.? I can't see how exactly you'd move from either of these into a check.
The lady's extension comes from the whole of your upper body, not just the neck. In fact i'd say most of it. You definitely shouldn't be straining your neck
