Hello my name is Shanaya and I started dancing with Arthur Murray in alexandira virginia a few months ago. I am a Bronze I and moving my way up. My first showcase is on June 2 where I will be showcasing the Rumba. Is there anyplace website or store where I can get a nice dress to wear. I was told that I shouldn't start wearing a costume until I am a bronze III. Please help. Thanks

You should be able to find something in any department store. Look for a dressy dress that flatters you--something you would wear to a party or a fancy date. For dancing, the most important thing is the skirt. Make sure you can move well in it (yes, all dancers do dance steps in dressing rooms!). It is nice to have a skirt that twirls when you turn. Assymetrical or handerkerchief hems look nice, too. If you do have a skirt that twirls up at all, make sure you wear dance trunks, preferably in the same color as your dress. In a pinch, a pair of full cut granny-style non-see-through underwear will substitute for dance trunks.
