When dance music is played in "competition order", with two tunes for each dance, working through the standard international ballroom and latin dances, in what order are the dances danced?

Clive Harrison. Many years ago. Somewhere in the 50' s . the order of dancing was changes from how it used to be which was Waltz Foxtrot Tango Quickstep To Waltz Tango Foxtrot Quickstep. After some thirty years or so it was changed simply because it gave the taller couples and advantage having the two dances which suit them first. That was the reason for the change. Don't take any notice of some TV programs they can be edited. In some semi finals they may show only two dances . The V Waltz which isn' t danced at Blackpool in the British. was introduced years later and can be after the Tango. Best wishes

the order of dances is different because the dances are put in easier order for syllabus and harder in Championship.

Doing a sow, dreamy waltz, then a stacccato tango, a strenuous and fast V Waltz, then slowing to molasses for a foxtrot, then finishing with the fastest, a quickstep, makes Championship more sportslike.

Same with Latin. Cha Cha and Samba, fast and energetic, then put the brakes on for Rhumba, Paso which is very diff technique than Rhumba, and finishing with the fastest and most stenuous.

I remember the first time we danced gold and was quite thankful that V Waltz and quickstep were not back to back!
