i realy could need an advice !
i just now stated at a new quite good ISTD
Dance studio for international style dancing ! i quite have a question !
i am a male of 28 years old and i aplied for starting lessons ! the instructors are a female teacher and a male teacher ! the instructor wants to do private lessons but is male ! would u assure that it would be weird a male teacher doing private lessons to another male ? these kind of dances i supose are need to be teached by the difrent gender(if it is a woman the instractor should be male ) if it is a male the instractor should me female !
what would someone believe if to male danced the rumba dance ????

The show on TV "Dancing with the stars" is a good example.

Hopefully you mean ISTD-style organization of knowldege. The ISTD is an umbrella society of instructors, it doesn't run studios.

Not really. If your lessons were going to include a lot of dancing with the teacher, you might want the female teacher. But if you lessons are going to really teach you basic skills, a lot of that will be more about copying the teacher and following his instructions as you do solo drills. You will probably only dance with him briefly now and then as an example.

It can be very helpful to have an instructor of the same sex. Although all instructors know both the lead and follow parts, they know details of the part they usually dance much better than the other part. Taking lessons from a man will likely help you become a better leader faster.

But if you are uncomfortable, ask to take lessons from the female instructor.

It will be very weird at first but in order to be a good dancer you must learn how to dance both the man and the lady's part. In order to lead you first must follow.

Male to male instruction can be very helpful in that you will get a very good sense of what a good lead needs to know. It will give you an upper hand on the dance floor and you will not deceive yourself about your abilities.

The male and female instructors are both proficient at either role but, it may be beneficial to you to get feedback from someone who is typically a leader on the dance floor. It can help give you a feel for what the follower needs from a leader, and how a good, clear lead feels. You will learn to tell whether you are in fact "leading" (truly giving your partner the signals she needs to move in the direction you want), or just doing steps and expecting your partner to know where to go.

I say this because I have encountered some wonderful, excellent leads, and then I have danced with leads who think they are better than they are and dance as if I can read their mind. You can be a great lead without having to be a very advanced dancer. The steps will come.

Also, in Argentine tango, it was common for the men to practice with each other when it was not yet a socially acceptable dance and women partners where not readily available.

Hope this was of some value to you. Enjoy.
