Hi there,

We took dancing lessons a few months ago for our wedding and we really enjoyed them... but recently have not had time to practice... now we find our selves wondering which dance our first dance song is... the song is amazed by Lonestar and I think it is 4 beats.... any suggestions for us... the wedding is tomorrow... yikes! We are totally drawing a blank here.... and trying to relearn it all!

Thank you!!!

Well it's definitely not a waltz. It's also not really a foxtrot. It's 4/4 timing and 80 bpm. The recommended speed for foxtrot is 120 to 136 bpm (American bronze). So if you do foxtrot it will feel very slow. You could maybe do rumba, but it's not really a rumba either, and also too slow for rumba. A slow dance might work. Since you don't have time to learn something new, and probably don't want to change your song, do whatever you can.

I would agree with smoothgeezer. The song is too slow for foxtrot. Your instructor might have taught you the patterns for the foxtrot but used the "social" timming for the dance AKA Foxy Try the foxtrot but don't use any slow's.

It's a Foxy (Slow Dance, nightclub foxtrot) I have had many couples use this song. The basic is a straight four count walk walk sway sway. Then do whatever you want in between it has a lot of freedom in it. Good Luck and have fun.
