You'll probably have to spend over $100 if you really want high quality shoes that will last longer.

My favorites are personally Supadance for standard and Ray Rose for latin. Another great store to order shoes from is World Tone Dance. www.worldtonedance.com

I have heard some complaints about Capezios wearing out quickly, as do Very Fine shoes. People wear out shoes differently depending on how they use their feet, but some brands are generally recommended over others. Some other high quality brands include International and Freed. Dance Naturals are good, but are very expensive.

I personally like Supadance. My favorite is Supadance 1401 with a 2.5" heel. If you really want a good pair you're going to most likely have to spend over $100. Mine were $149, but they are amazing. Comfort, stability, and all.

I order my shoes from Ballroom Etc. They're a company located in Louisville, KY. The website is www.ballroometc.com.

Hope I helped!

Thanks for all the suggestions, it really helps to have some imput for others!

One more question: What about color? A previous dance intructor said flesh color is best as it blends into the floor and goes with everything. So I went with his preference for my first pair but now I want something a little more fun. Is it really tacky to get sparkles or something shiny or (gasp) a red pair??

Thanks again!

I don't know that I would spend a lot on shoes that I was going to wear at a club. I am just so fearful of drinks being spilled and me ruining my shoes.

I prefer flesh, but I use my shoes for competitions and shows, etc.

If you're using the shoes to dance socially, get what YOU want!! I would think black would go with more, but that's my closet. Red could totally be fun. I don't know how I feel about sparkles. Perhaps you could add rhinestones to the shoes yourself. I do love some rhinestoned shoes!

I'd like nicer shoes for a club beacuse after two hours of dancing salsa, my feet hurt! It might happen in any pair of shoes I wear but I thought I would try something with a little more support. But you're right about the colors... perhaps I SHOULD go with red. I normamlly wear jeans there so it should go with most things and it would look prety hot! After all, it IS just for fun.

You could always get flesh shoes and then stone them.

Dirt, spilled beverages etc. will cause the suede on the bottom of the shoe to wear out. But the soles can be replaced many times. We wear quality dance shoes even on cruises. I just replace the cowhide split or suede, after the cruise. If you do it yourself, it is less than $2 if you use cowhide split, about $4.00 if you use suede.

We tried cheaper shoes and found out in the long run, the expansive ones end up saving you money. I still use the first pair of Freeds, I bought 7 years ago. The cheap pair I bought, were hard on my feet. Plus they strectched out very quickly.

I've used Capezio at dance class and they've always been good to me but I don't know if any other dance shoe brand will perform just as well.
