Only seen this done a few times recently at my studio but now love it! However, before I throw myself into learning it i was curious if anyone else does blues dancing? I've never heard of it before a couple of weeks ago ( not that that means anything of course) and was wondering if people dance this anywhere besides in private lessons. I'm also interested in finding the right partner to do this seriously with but don't know how to about finding that person. Any advice would be great! Thanks in advance.

If you have not seen Tony Meredith and Melanie LaPatin's blues cabaret dance on their web site....you might like it, since you have an interst in it. I don't know the "address", but if you google Tony and Melanie...you will find their web site and then choose videos...........there is a blues cabaret number on the list that will knock your socks off.........all I can say is........."WOW!!!!!!!! If you have never seen it before...it is amazing....let me know how you like it!

Hi Ladytan,

Blues dancing is experiencing a revival all around the world! I just began learning in January, and I LOVE IT!

I'm finding that there are different schools of thought about what makes Blues dancing. As a beginner, I'm sticking to the basics for now. Unless I happen to get a good leader.

Here in Austin, there are regular blues dances during the month, with at least one or two "Blue Fridays" a month. Blue Fridays are where the dance party rotates houses each time. http://www.bluefridayaustin.com/

From what I've seen on the net and my local swing club's Yahoo group, there are swing/blues lessons and workshops all over the country.

As far as finding a partner...I just go to the dances and dance with anyone who will dance with me.

Have fun!

Liz
