Not having access to the program when you wrote about. Marilu Henner and Tony Meredith I take it they are the judges and are discussing the technical aspects of the couples.
I dont know whether you follow what is being spoken and written about. but there is a return to the correct technique move in progress. Some of which has been presented on Dancesport UK. Among othere dances there is critisism of the Quickstep the Samba the Jive and in paricular the Tango. Ten of the best coaches in the world today have put their names to this document.

No, Henner and Meredith were only the commentators, providing insight into the dancers and the different techniques, etc.
The judges are on the ballroom floor and you never see them too much during the broadcast. It is in Columbus, Ohio and seems to be getting bigger every year. In my area (Chicago), it is shown on PBS every Wednesday night and then again in a repeat on Saturday night.
And it seems to always start in February and go until first week in March or so.

dheun.I wonder if the program from the UK is shown where you are. It's called Baby Ballroom. The couples of which there are eight are eight and ten year olds. Three judges who we do see give the comments. No marks are shown. There are also two adjudicators who we dont see. Four couples win through. The other four come on again for one dance. This is for the public vote. All of the dancers are competitors. Some are very highly ranked. With all of them their poise is immaculate. The comment on technique are very interesting.

I don't have a wide lineup of cable TV channels, so I am not familiar with that program. But I have not heard it mentioned by anyone over here. But it sounds like it would be a great show. We catch onto things a little slower over here, so, much like Dancing with the Stars being a hit over there before it was here, I would imagine we'll be seeing something along these lines with the younger people sometime in the near future. The Mad Hot Ballroom documentary was well-received because of the young people being the subject, so I would think Baby Ballroom is a hit waiting to happen here.

dheun. What was obvious from all the couples was how well trained they were.In the Rumba this young ten year hold held the girls hand between his fingers and thumb instead of like some which can look more more like a bunch of bananas. And they delayed and then hit that second beat with gusto Those of you who have Slavik's tape will know how the Chasse in the Cha has altered which is the way this other couple were performing. And the Waltz. I'm green with envy, but they were the best couple in the UK

I believe it's the Ohio Star Ball national competition every November in Columbus, OH.
In addition to the competition shown on on America's Ballroom Challenge, they do various workshops and sales booths.

If you live in the US, its a 5 week series carried on PBS stations that usually airs in Feburary. You can google americas ballroom challenge to get more info. It is filmed at the Ohio Star Ball in Columbus Ohio which occurs a few months previously as is mentione above. Utube carries some good clips from ballroom competitions if you want to search for some as well. (search for max and yulia - my favorite).
