Tell the man that he has made you so uncomfortable that you are no longer enjoying the class. Tell the man that you are no longer even interested in dancing with him. Tell the man to steer very clear of you, that you are tired of being harassed by him. Be straight forward and then avoid him, including eye contact. He will find someone else to appreciate his advances. I am sure many people are watching your responses/management of this fool.

Do not let this man make you feel so uncomfortable that you take time off from dancing. He's in the wrong and he should be the one taking time off - leaving if it doesn't stop. I would reccomend explaining the situation to the owner of the studio. My boss would be appalled at a situation like this and would let him know in no uncertain terms that it needs to stop or he can go. No one should make the environment uncomfortable, and it's the owners and the instructors job to make sure that things like that are not happening.

Okay so this guy is overly flirtatious. Why is it getting to you so much that you'd want to leave the studio you like. From what you described it doesn't sound like it reach a point of creepiness. He hasn't tried to cop a feel or anything like that, so you said. Kinda sound like they are swingers (not referring to swing dancing). Just brush him off, laugh at his advances, ignore hime, etc. If he tries to make a move, slap him. Use youre common sense. I'm sure every woman has experienced unrequited love (or lust) for a guy.

I don't understand why you are willing to talk and dance with him, if he makes you so uncomfortable. Sorry to be blunt, but the fact that you are so wimpy is likely what attracted him to you in the first place--he picked you out as someone he could harass without consequences.

How could you let him drive you away from something you enjoy? Go back and ignore him. If he approaches you, tell him politely that his behavior toward you offends you and that you do not wish to dance or talk with him. Turn your back and do not respond or make eye contact again.

You might want to speak to the owners of the studio about the problem before you return. Let them know what you plan to do and ask them to support you if he persists.

This would really scare me! But from a outside persons view I would suggest you talk to the main studio instructor (or whoever is best) and simply ask not to dance with this man, and if he continues to ask you to dance or even if you are having naughty thoughts, WALK AWAY or say NO I AM NOT, AND YOU ARE MARRIED (or something along those lines). The best thing to do is always stay calm and don't show that you are upset but still give the look of 'shove off!'

Well thank you for all your replies.Firstly, Im not wimpy as some of you point out and secondly this has been going on for some time its beyond funny in fact i find it sickening that you would think sexual harassment is funny. Some of you might enjoy being harassed I most certainly don't. I don't particuarly like knowing his perverted fantasies nor do I like the fact someone has given him my phone number. The studio has been made aware of the sms he has sent only after He made a complaint against me for harassing him, im now being questioned and have been asked to leave. So thanks to those of you who had insincere comments and thanks to those who took my situation seriously.

Am I understanding correctly that the studio is now asking you to leave? That's just wrong.

However, I do agree with the sentiment that you should have put a stop to his behaviour much quicker. I do not agree with anyone who advocates violence, but you should have told this person in no uncertain terms that his advances were not wanted and would not be tolerated.

Also, you should initiate action with the studio anytime someone's behavior is making you uncomfortable. Initially, you should simply inform your instructor that the person is making unwanted advances, and ask him/her to document it in your book. If the creep continues, then you should accelerate the action to the studio management, pointing out that this is not the first time. Document your complaint again. If the studio will not support you at this point, then you really should complain to the owner.

Under the circumstances, if they are not going to support you, you should get a full refund of any paid lessons. The studio should not be allowed to apply any contractual accelerations because you got a discount. If they try, a letter from an attorney should quash that attitude, post haste.

If you do manage to stay at this studio, and this idiot won't leave you alone, do not be afraid to raise a major stink. Get loud. Get angry. If it continues further, get legal assistance, because you are in the right.

i agree, you should start reporting these instances of harrassment to the police. even if it's not enough for them to do anything right away, either it'll force this guy to back off, or when it comes time for more legal action you'll have a history of complaints with the police to strengthen your case. don't be afraid to pursue it legally.
