What year was the first World Professional Ten Dance Championship held.

Im trying to remember the yr Silvers ( one of my protoges ) competed in 10 dance .
In the states i recall it was 1967 (? ) .
On a world level, must have been around that period .

Terence. It could be called a trick question. 1980 was the year. Before that it was the Nine Dance Championship and of course the next question would be what dance was added. When I took my first medal in that dance it was a medal on its own and not part of the Latin..

Not in the States ( which was my reference ) They also had it in American style before 1980

Terence. The first Ten Dance World Championship was won by David Sycamore and Dennise Weavers in 1980.

Wanted to say that-- had them come to our studio in Fla. ( should have remembered, thats what age does !! )

Terence. I still have a tape of David and Dennise giving a demonstration here .We were looking at it the other day and agreed it was as good as it can get. As you know he wasn't a big person and yet he could lifted Dennise above his head as though she was a feather.
