Yes, here are two versions of "You Raise Me Up" as a waltz.

http://www.maestrorecords.com/new2008_cdts158.html

Nice version with a definite beat so suitable for beginners too.

Nice orchestral version, slower and more difficult.

There are dozens of versions of "You Raise me Up" on iTunes. ALL of them are in what sounds to me like duple time, and I can't imagine how it could possibly be arranged in waltz time. Is there more than one song of the same name: surely, we can't be talking about the song made a hits by Westlife & Josh Groban?

Can anyone point me in the direction on an online clip of a waltz version - I'm fascinated!

There are waltz and rumba/foxtrot versions of several songs around, including Titanic and Somewhere In Time.

Some work better than others but I think You Raise Me Up works well.

I don't know how Jonathan feels about posting clips here so this may get edited.
Copyright should not be a problem as this is a short 96kb mp3 edited clip of both versions combined so it is virtually useless apart from this discussion.

The clip features Richard Keeling followed by Hisao Sudo Orchestra.

The Keeling one really WAS dreadful, but I have to admit being pleasantly suprised by the other. Thanks for taking the trouble to source the clip.

The Dmitri Shoshtokovitch Jazz Suite has an exquisite waltz that is eminently suitable for dancing. It is probably a trifle slower than most Viennese, but not really by much.

I suggest the following which are of more recent vintage:

Windsong (Theme from Mighty Joe Young)

Sandy's Song (Dolly Parton)

Gold & Silver (Enya)

Marble Halls (Enya)

Mull of Kyntyre (written by Paul McCartney - I understand that this song is in 7/8 time, not 3/4 time, but it sounds ok to me.)

My Heart Will Go On (Titanic theme in 3/4 time)

Someone is Standing Outside (Patti Austin)

Hope these help!

Kaira. It would help if we new what style of dancing you do and at what level. As an international dancer most of the songs that have so far been mentioned I would not dance to.

Well, I dance fairly basic stuff because hubby is just learning. Mostly American Smooth, but with an interest in the International Standard versions.

I like to draw from the technique DVD's I've purchased from both American and International simply because I personally like learning from both.

We don't compete. If it were up to me, we would be working in that direction simply because I enjoy the energy that goes with being competitive. The challenge inspires me to work harder.

But hubby feels insecure about his abilities and we live a very long way from places that teach ballroom. Soon, we shall be living where for 9 months of the year the roads are not passable. Luckily, we are preparing some changes in the house to leave one large space open for dancing. He knows that I have simple needs: room for my library of 6,000+ volumes, a hookup for my computer, and a large space for dancing with mirrors and a bar. The inconvenience of being isolated is not an issue.

I particularly like Leann Wommak (Country) I hope you dance. It is not stricly instrumental but I am sure you can find an instrumental version out there.
