We are just starting out in the rhythms and I am looking for Cha songs to practice to. Rather than purchasing CD's I was hoping to find songs on itune that I can download to my ipod...
Any suggestions?

Start with the Cha-Cha music page on this site. You can find it in the Learn the Dances section, then click on Cha-Cha... at the bottom of the page they show a couple of songs, then another link to the total song catalog. You may not spot a lot of contemporary tunes in there, but there are some. You have to keep clicking through the other pages. Other posters can possibly fill in the blanks on some current tunes. I know there are some Madonna tunes that work well. I have used "Words of Love" by the Beatles a few times and it works well. "Smooth" by Carlos Santana tends to be a favorite as well.

"Represent, Cuba" off the Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights soundtrack is currently being beaten to death by our Champaign-Urbana hopefuls at the studio. One even made it his ringtone. If I never hear that song again...

Um, let's see what else can be used:
"My Humps" by the Black Eyed Peas- it's a little fast, and more west-coasty, but we use it a lot.

"Tilt Ya Head Back" by Nelly, featuring Christina Haguilera is a little slow I think.

Most recent renditions of "Sway" by the Pussycat Dolls and Michael Buble and the like.

Another worn-out one: "Smooth" by Santana and Rob Thomas.

"Every Morning" by Sugar Ray. "Someday" works okay, too.

Then your cheesy old ones like Tea for Two, Frenesi, CP&ABW, etc.

Jan567. Google Lets Get Loud. Jennifer Lopez. Where I live it is used in competitions. See what you think. Give it a try.
For something a bit slower you might Google Pink Lady Marmalade

I just happened to see this page today. You can listen to short samples. Probably the same songs are available at iTunes also.

I'm just starting to learn the Cha Cha too. I heard the song "Burning Love" (my favorite Elvis tune) on the radio today and was thinking that might work for Cha Cha... you think?
