New Flooring -Bamboo vs Hardwood

I am putting a new floor in my spare bedroom. I wanted to have a practice room. My home is on a concrete slab- I read on a previous question that hardwood should not be put on concrete. I went to pick out flooring, there are so many!!! I also looked at youtube clips of how to lay a dance floor, that was crazy! I can't do that in my home. I need the flexibility & give in the flooring, then hardwood vs. laminate what's a girl to do? Any ideas?

JJ, No one mentioned Bamboo. I still do not know what is correct to do. Our home improvements store around here only employee teens that are not even smart enough to load them in the car! So, I have no one which really to ask trusted advice. Which is most common thought the years? Which is correct?

Arguably the best, and most durable, dance floor material is solid Maple boards, on a suspended (sprung) subfloor. For light (ie not commercial) domestic use and practise, a decent quality laminate floor (and they come in passable imitations of Maple, or real Maple veneer) is perfectly acceptable, but you do need to provide some "give" under the floor, or you might as well put an industrial paint finish (warehouse floor paint?) on your concrete floor, and then dance on that!

Real sprung floors are seriously expensive, so you either have to spend lots of money, or look for ways to cheat, without too much compromise.

They are actually easier to instal than one may think . Seal floor with damp proof solution . Next...

Lay.. 1 to 1 1/2 inch wood strips East to West at intervals of 6 to 9 inches apart. Secure to basement floor.. take some quality 1/4 inch felt and cut in to strips.. secure on top with a good adhesive. This is the Sub floor.. now.. instal your hardwood ( not tongue and groove , needs room to expand if necess. ) in strips of 2 to 3 inch width ,North and South .
make sure you allow for door clearance if in closed room .

if you ever move, the floor is quite easily taken up.
