You fail to factor in costs of attending... most amat. cant afford consistent lessons !!

Also, by then, the USA had established itself thru their national championships, which had open and closed divisions, drawing competitors from all over the world. It drew several of the worlds top Pros in the open divisions ( prize money was the best in the world ) and some amat.

Terence. At this moment there are 136 comments about a chain dance studio. Most of the comments are not very flattering. Is being taught by six week wonders actually holding dancing back in the USA. The standard of dancing in those studios can only go so far, and pupils will only get to a little beyond the beginner stage when compared to a competition dancer. We are not talking about Independant Studios and those teachers of dancing who are appearing from abroad.

Did you know that there have been far more notorious legal actions against Independants ?...


At least with a Chain, you do have some recourse .

Like any chain Macs, wendys etc, there are going to be good and bad . I know.. have worked for both majors and some bad indies .

reason i asked.. 2 of my students recently emigrated to melbourne .

They will probably make their way to our Casino next Easter for one of the big ones.

They are only less than average social dancers.. but very keen and have not had the time to take lessons as yet.. any suggestions where ?

There are many top Dance Studios in Melbourne and some first class teachers. If they look up the Yellow pages under Dancing in the phone book.One that springs to mind is
" Star Sudios ". It is a seven days a week studio which has parking for 250 cars at the rear of the studio. A look at their web-site will give all the info. Google info@starstudios.com.au will get them there.
You might tell your friends that on the Social scene they will have to learn some Australian New Vogue. There are sixteen at the very least that would need to be learnt if they are to go to any Social Dance and not sit a lot of the program out.
A slight history of New Vogue is that in the 30's Ballroom teachers here were dissatisfied with the Ballet Type steps in English Old Time and started to put together types of Sequence Dances based on the Ballroom Style. In the main the feet are always pointing in the direction you are moving.
One thing is for sure. In Melbourne they will not be short of places to go to or to learn.
