The dress under the heel of her right shoe is what I found interesting.

Unless she is moving backwards, I can't see how it got there.

PS I've met this lady before although I haven't danced with her (at least not that I can remember). She's much prettier in person.

At first, I thought we were looking at the third leg coming out of the man's back!

Lets look at some of the good points. Apart from standing on the dress which is probably already affecting the step.Probably causing the weight to be not in exactly the correct place.
Good Points. Man's heel leaving the floor. Ladies knee bending towards her front as she extends the toe of the rear foot. . Man's left hand thumb up which is how most are dancing today. Back of ladies armpit resting on the man's wrist. Right bust in contact with the partner. I would class them as trained dancers well above average.
I don't recall seeing the man

but I can confirm that the woman has had a fair amount of training. I don't if she competes but I have seen her at several social functions and she is a decent dancer.

The guy in the mirror if he is watching needs to learn at exactly what height his left hand should be and keep it there..His right needs to be lifted so that he is even across the shoulder We can learn a lot by watching others providing we know what to look for and know what is the remedy.

consider me an idiot, but this seems very survivable given what is displayed. the foot that has weight on it is on the dress but the foot that is traveling is free and clear of obstruction. it will continue on to its final destination although probably considerably shorter than her normal stride; but judging by the cut of the dress that will not be greatly affected. and as soon as she transfers weight her skirt will be freed, and she can continue on her merry way. so unless we know that she fell what really is wrong?
The length of her skirt is what is wrong.

Looking at the picture, I have to assume that she's moving backwards. Had she been moving forward on her previous steps, the skirt could not have gotten under her heel as it has.

Because she is, in all likelihood, moving backwards, the skirt will not be freed on her next step. Her ultimate predicament may not be so dire as falling down but dancing ON one's skirt, as Polished has pointed out, probably hinders one's execution.

I posted the picture simply to draw attention to the fact that, when dressing to go dancing, a lady should pay attention to the length and quality of her skirt.

I learned that lesson. I have only fallen down once - doing the quickstep. When my heel got caught, I knew I was doomed so I let go of my partner, squatted right down and kind of rolled on to my rear end and then the momentum rolled me onto my back. My legs stayed together so there was no exposure and I was not hurt or even bruised. My partner, once he realized what was happening, jumped over me. Very careful of my dress length now, let me tell you.

She is not standing on the dress. If you look closely you will see that part of the dress is in front of her right heel. If she was standing on the dress the heel would appear in front of the dress. It appears that the dress has moved such that it is draped around her right foot and the right foot is standing on the floor.

What I can't figure out is, what step gets you into this position. They are almost hip to hip. From the dress it appears that the previous step was forward for the lady, but that is not certain because I can't think of a step that would put her in this position.

Curving feather to back feather , feather finish ( Prince of wales ) very common variation, am surprised he would be using it at a social ( needs space )
