After joining a nonprofit dance organization they sent us 3 CDs of music that is popular and contemporary. The tracks have been changed so that they are different from the originals. These tunes are shortened, tempos and pitch changed and the lyrics are somewhat different. We do not pay ASCAP or BMI fees for this royalty free music.
After dancing to these tunes for a year we are seeking more music. A lot of good dancable music is available from www.archive.org if it is royalty free.
Are there studios out there who significantly alter popular copyrighted tunes for dancing so they can be just played for students and dancers of that establashment only?
