Dyeing Shoes

Has anyone tried to dye dance shoes? I want to wear dance shoes for my wedding, but I want to dye them a fun color to match the theme.
I know I need white satin shoes, but how do I apply the dye? Would it have to be painted onto the shoes?

I have been telling many people about www.theRuche.com because there shoes are so comfortable and you can customize the heel. they all so have many colors of shoes you can ask them for a color and they can see if there place can make it also they have white shoes!
