Help!

Hi, I live in Simi Valley, CA. What I want to do, is learn as many styles of ballroom as possible, and eventually get good and compete. The problem is, I'm having trouble finding a place that could teach me that. So what I'm asking, is there some sort of studio, organization, teacher, or etc. that could help me accomplish that goal. P.S. it would be a plus if there was something for people my age, I'm a teenager.
Thank you!

Have you tried the googler? I got 48,500 hits. Pick one near you and give them a call.

Hi,

You know there really isn't anything exactly like that out there. What you need to do is either open up a phone book and look for dance studios....which is the least good option...

Or find some ballroom competitions in your area and go to them. See which teachers are teaching the style of dance you want to learn and approach them. That way you can actually see who is good and who has good students without having to take somebody elses word for it.

Good luck!!

Belle

You have a great head start by posting here. Belle gives some good rules as well to begin your dance experience in ballroom. 1) you can click directory on this site, then teachers/instructors - follow the menu choices. Call or e-mail to find the information you want from a teacher or dance school/studio. 2)Look up your local colleges/university - Cal State Northridge? or maybe anything in Sun Valley? etc., via a collge ballroom team - group classes - can get you started 3)Join and/or contact USA Dance Chapter - where you may find an instructor or referred to one and come to the hosted dances 4)when you use the internet or the hard-copy yellow pages try looking up Dance Studio, Dance School, (title) Ballroom, There are many ways to name an actual dance school/studio - it's in the research. Also, look up National Dance Council of America, there is a listing of teachers and how to contact them. Good luck, there are many great instructors in the valley!

I heard there is a former ballroom competitor with years of experience at Dance Creations. She works with women only, on steps and stlyling. You may want to talk to her since she is out that way.
