When doing a u/a turn with the lady out of open break. She goes under her right/his left. After you complete step, how do you get back into box step or out of this alternate basic step. This is about basic Rumba steps only.
Meaning of Rumba

In the Carribbean, the word "rumba" does not refer to a specific dance; rather it is a generic name for a musical style & related group of dances. Further, the individual dances that are considered to be rumbas can vary from island to island.

The ballroom rumba we dance is descended from the "rumba-son." I believe the dance is still done in Cuba, often called more simply the "son."

Lots of places on the web can give you more info if you look. One example: http://www.centralhome.com/ballroomcountry/rumba.htm

Hi, can anyone tell me why the ballroom dance called rumba has no similarity to
Cuban Rumba?
I'm just curious how the dance came to be called rhumba if it has nothing to do with the the way Cubans actually dance it in Cuba.
I've always been curious about that.

Thanks, Cliff qualitydag@earthlink.net
