falling to fast

Hi everyone,

I'm american style beginner. The instructer keep telling me that I'm falling too fast on my twinkle 3rd step (foxtrot) so the up/down movement is not very smooth. My understanding is on the 2nd step, I'm on the toe and the 3rd step is TH. So the down movement is naturally caused by the fact I'm lowering down on the heel.
What should I do ? what is the right way to this TH action ?

thanks,

Your instructor is referring to speed you are lowering not the basic footwork it self. Your mistake is pretty common with beginners. It is easy to drop the heel as soon as you put weight on it, but it looks and feels clunky. You need to think about using your calf-muscles to control your rate of decent to use more of the beat.
