Knee Bend in Viennese Waltz

Could anyone tell me how much your knees should be bent in Viennese Waltz? Do you just soften, or is the bend more severe than that? I have heard a couple of conflicting stories on this, and I don't want to have to fix this later when I can try to learn proper technique now. Thanks in advance!

I'm thinking soften, there's not actually any rise and fall in Viennese Waltz.

(I suppose I could go upstairs and quote from Harry Smith-Hampshire's treatise on the V. Waltz, but I'm watching "Aqua Teens Hunger Force" and can't be bothered to get off the sofa right now )
