Hmm, I wonder if it perhaps takes experience to be a competitive professional? Sure, those who had serious amateur careers in their teens might reasonably turn pro in their twenties - but I'd say it's a _good thing_ if the pro-am circuit is generally short on the age group that cannot be expected to have yet accumulated substantial experience.
