Anonymous. Higher contact point in Quickstep. Dead right and easily proved.
Stand in a setup for the Waltz. Now on the spot try a Pendelem points or a Woodpecker. Now get a higher contact point and try again. Which of the two is the most desirable. As for Promenades and so on. A gentleman by the name of Wally Fryer over 50 years ago said the lady has to be more to the man's right side to do the steps that was being introduced.

More to the side, shure, that is fine.

But opening the tops so that the trailing shoulders break - that is simply unacceptable. But very, very common.

Anonymous. By trailing shoulder breaks. Do you mean the lady is turning clockwise slightly away from the man. Which brings up the question . If we have a triangluar shape between the bodies at shoulder level. Which is the pointed side and which side is the base.

Anonymous. In modern the widest side is to the man's right. The lady has her left armpit on the man's right wrist. The narrowest side is on the man's left side. Thus the base of our supposed
triangle is too the man's right.

I think you're confusing overshaping by the lady for the actual body positions.
