It's not difficult to dance a slow waltz to fox-trot music (with some adjustment of course). What is the tempo of this particular piece? If it's around 15BPM then it would be easy to count in half beats and dance to these.
Just to expand the discussion a little, what do others think about practising to slow music (say 20-24BPM for slow waltz/foxtrot) to promote good balance. This is a method used for developing piano technique
